Get $450 to spend on Qantas flights each year
Qantas American Express Ultimate Card Members receive a $450 Qantas Travel Credit each year to spend on eligible Qantas domestic and international flights. Simply by using the Qantas Travel Credit each year, you’ll effectively offset the cost of the $450 annual fee.
To redeem the Qantas Travel Credit, you simply need to find and book eligible flights online via American Express Travel. Eligible flights are standard Qantas flights with a QF flight number, so there are plenty of routes to choose from.
The Qantas Travel Credit is very flexible. You don’t need to use it for yourself – you can book and pay for flights for other people, and you don’t need to be travelling with them.
You will need to use your annual $450 Qantas Travel Credit on a single travel booking of $450 or more on your eligible Card, made through American Express Travel Online. The Qantas Travel Credit can be redeemed for any eligible Qantas flight booked (i.e. a QF flight number on your ticket).
Your booking will be charged in full to your Qantas American Express Ultimate Card and American Express will then credit $450 to your Account within 3 business days but may take up to 30 days. You will still receive your $450 Qantas Travel Credit each year, and your Travel Credit anniversary will remain the same
Relax with two Qantas Club lounge entries each year
Receive two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations each year you hold the Qantas American Express Ultimate Card.
Your Qantas Club lounge invitations will be credited automatically after your first Card spend each year in Australia on selected Qantas products and services.
Once your Qantas Club lounge passes have been activated, you’ll receive an email from Qantas and your two digital lounge passes will be attached to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account.
The passes are valid for usage 12 months from the date of issue.
Enjoy piles of Qantas Points when you spend
On top of the bonus of 75,000 Qantas Points, the Qantas American Express Ultimate delivers a very high Qantas Points earn rate on card spend:
- Earn 1.25 Qantas Points for every $1 spent, except spend at government bodies in Australia where you will earn 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent
- Earn 1 additional Qantas Point per $1 spent on selected Qantas products and services in Australia
1.25 Qantas Points per dollar is one of the highest Qantas Points earn rates on everyday spend in Australia, so it’s not surprising that this card is popular with savvy frequent flyers.
Best of all, there’s no cap on how many points you can earn – regardless of how much you spend per month or each year.
If you’ve been considering taking up a Qantas-linked Amex, note that the American Express merchant network is extensive.
Stores including Coles, Woolworths, David Jones, Chemist Warehouse, eBay, Amazon and Dan Murphy plus numerous smaller merchants currently accept the Qantas Amex Ultimate Card with no surcharge. Personally speaking, I’m able to whip out my Amex for over 75% of my ongoing and ad-hoc expenses.
